It was an impulsive decision which turned out to be an exhilarating experience. I was planning to go on a trek from long back but could not get a chance. But with Thrillophillia, it was made into reality. I was a part of the trekking group which visited Kodachadri on 20/12/2019 which turned out to be an adventure-seeking, goofy and most loving bunch of people. Our Trek lead (Habeeb) his energy was contagious. He guided us with the same energy at the start till end. He knows the route pretty well that I was effortless in following him. Everyone in the group is friendly. As I am travelling alone, I never felt lost or ignored. The itinerary and the stay are awesome. The food which was provided is satiable and filling. The transport has been changed in the last minute, but that was also great. I boarded the bus at 11:00 PM on Friday at Goruguntepalya, reached Halli Mane HomeStay by 8:00 AM on Saturday, from there we started our trek by 9:30 AM and reached Hidlumane waterfalls by 11:30 AM spent some time there and continued our journey till 2:30 PM by which we reached Devasa there we had our lunch and continued the ascend we reached Kodachadri peak by 5:30 PM and enjoyed the beautiful sunset the return was in Jeep which was a roller-coaster kind of experience and "I loved it". We reached homestay by 8:30 PM and had good dinner and spend some time near the campfire. On the next day, we started our return journey by 9:30 AM in between we visited Nagara Fort ruins. Overall it was a great hasslefree experience and a big Thumbs up to #Thrillophilia Until next time, Happy Travelling :-)

Fantastic experience , trek to kodachadri is one of the greatest experience for each one of our group. most of the people from our group was first time trekkers though the Mountains were tough to climb host Kiran and dixit kept us motivated. took very good care of us. we were group of 8 members who joined other 4 member in the trip. we started on a weekend and reached Saturday morning got freshup had a decent breakfast and took a box of lunch with us and started to trek. after 4 to 5 km we reached hidulumane waterfalls ( best time to visit is July to December before 15 ) as water level decreases. this is one of the beautiful experience one can have. After we enjoy the waterfalls again we started to trek for another 8 to 10 km to the top. at 1 we rested near stream and had a good lunch. we reached the peak around 3 and again left at 330 and we walked all the way from jeep track. you will really need strong legs as the gravity pulls you when you are coming down.we reached homestay around 8 pm and took a hot water shower and sat near camp fire for some time and rested for the day. next day we visited nagarfort, kavludurga fort and also kavi mane( kuvempu house) it was all worth it.every one in group is so happy as the host took very good care of us. if any one planning to visit this place it's awesome .Enjoy

Trek to Kodachadri is one of the best experiences in my life. Killer view, challenging terrain and amazing trails. The sunset and hidlumane waterfalls are to die for. Our trek was organised well and I am really thankful to Jay Prakash and Rahil ( our trek leads as well) for the constant help, for keeping us interactive, providing us a decent accommodation and travel and making this trek a safe and a memorable one. You guys are doing a great job! Totally worth the money and I did get a huge family out of this trek for free!

Kodacheri trekking is highly adventurous and it is one of the by far the best treks I have been too. While, organising a trek by oneself can be a tiresome job, taking a trek deal simplifies lives. Meeting a lot of passionate fellow trekkers is always a great thing to look forward to during treks. As this trek can be really tedious, it is better if one equips himself wisely with good stamina and strength training before hand. Food available during the trek is awful, and it is always advisable to carry essentials like medicines and stuff for the trek. apart from food everything was very good and the views were amazing!

Kodachadri is certainly one of the most beautiful trekking trails, one fact that I realized after spending 10 years in Karnataka. Beautiful place, loved the trekking and the entire region is so calm that it automatically de-stresses you.

I had heard about this place alot from my friends, so i decided to take this trek with my office people. when i reached, the nature was at its best it was worth travelling for 8 hours by bus.. The trek path were quite challenging though. However, the sight was worth the pain taken to trek. I think prior trek experience will be a plus while taking this trek. and i felt so good after the trek, also my colleagues were really happy ! amazing weekend gateaway and stay !

Trip date: July 2019. Guides: Irfan and Avinash Trekking Reviews: It was awesome trip and very adventurous. Wear good shoes, take very light weight. Because carrying every extra items will make painful while reaching top. Shorts or light weight pants advisable. Raincoat mandatory as its July and it keeps on raining. No jerkins required. Breath taking view at that top. Both physically and mentally one has to prepared. Basic medication please carry as small small wounds possible. Leech attack is common here. Stay reviews: It's a home stay, sleep on the floor but it will be comfortable. Like ur grandparents place. South Indian foods. Basic ones and hygenic. During trek fill your stomach. Not less or not more. It should be moderate. Trek level: Its moderate for first 7kms and rest 7kms are tough. So grab as much as possible in the start. Keep more resting points in the last 7km. Every minute counts while grabbing the top. So as early, as good. You will quality time in the top if u climb early.
The Kodachadri Trek is moderately difficult and doesn't require a lot of prior experience. The trek can be divided into 3 sections. Starting from Sampekatte or Marakuttaka to Hindlumane falls. This section is much steeper and involves trekkers to pass through dense tropics.
The second section is via Value to Karrakatta which is less steep and involves a number of resting areas. The last section is basically a vehicular ride through Kodachadri.
The Kodachadri Trek in totality is about 14 km which can take up to 5 hours. The trek via Santosh hotel is about 5.5 km and is one of the most difficult ones when compared to others. The second route via the Hidlumane Falls which will take you through dense forest areas and finally crossing the Hidlumane waterfall is about 4 km in totality. The last trek is basically a jeep ride of 15 km to the guest house.
No, camping in Kodachadri is strictly not allowed. Prior arrangements of staying at the PWD guest house has to be made in order to stay at the peak. There are also several homestay options available near the starting point of the trek that trekkers can book in advance.
The best time to visit Kodachadri for a trek is during or just after the monsoon season. During this time the tropics are lush, waterfall sparkle and the weather is pleasant and comfortable for long treks. However, if there is heavy rainfall waterfalls can overflow and grounds can get slippery making the trek difficult and dangerous.
Found between the Shimong-Kollu, Kodachadri is well connected to the highway route between Bangalore, Chennai, and Mumbai. Bus service from these places is also available to Kodachadri hills. You can also take the train with Kundapura being the nearest railway stop at a distance of 50 KMs. If you plan on travelling by air, the nearest airport is Mangalore at about 150 km from Kodachadri Hills
Yes, in fact between June and September is the best time for the trek. It is monsoon season during this time which makes the weather perfect for long treks. However, if a high amount of rainfall is noted it is advised not to indulge in the trek as it can be dangerous.
The total distance covered is around 15 km. This includes jeep rides and trek. The total time the trek can take is between 4 to 5 hours. It is divided into 3 sections each with a low to moderate level of difficulty.
Yes, Solo female travellers can experience Kodachandri trek without any hassle. There are various guides and instructors present during the trek and individual accommodation with a safe environment is also provided in Kodachadri.
Yes, the weather is cold and perfect for a trek in October month. Various tropics and waterfalls are at their prime making the trek a blissful experience.
