Manali Leh Highway Status:

"Manali-Leh Highway Snow Clearing May Start from 1st March"

If the reports from BRO are to be believed, then the Manali-Leh Highway, which is a mountain highway of high significance may just open almost 2 months earlier than expected, a feat to be repeated almost after 17 years. This is because of the width of the layer of snow that usually covers the roads that go from the Rohtang Pass to the Baralacha La, covering areas like Keylong.

The usually 20 to 30ft of snow has only been about 5ft this year, meaning it won’t take as long to clear the way and open the gates of Rohtang into Lahaul Valley and till the city of Leh till the end of April. It is noteworthy that the last time this happened was in the years 1999, 2000 and 2001. The BRO usually starts cleaning the ice in March, with the operations ending in May and gates opened for public by the end of May or beginning of June.

The topic of discussion is that when you park your car or any vehicle in a specified box marked on the road and leave the engine off and the gears on neutral, the car starts moving.

Though it can be argued by saying it is because of gravity, the experienced ones are suggesting you turn your vehicle to the opposite direction and repeat the same. To surprise you, the vehicle will start moving uphill; if gravity is the force here how a vehicle can climb the steep hill without its driving force on. This mysterious hill has gained monstrous popularity among trekkers, travelers, and hippies.

The only service providers in the valley of Leh are the BSNL and Airtel. Hence, the people who have the post-paid connections from these operators can enjoy a hassle-free connectivity during their visit to Leh. On the other hand, if you do not have the post-paid connection from the aforementioned service providers, there are only two options for you: First, either buy a prepaid connection from the mentioned service providers or just use the overcrowded phone booths located in the Leh city.

As the city of Ladakh has a considerable amount of Army, the phone booths in the city are almost always crowded and you can find a lot of soldiers waiting in line to talk to their loved ones, especially in the booths located near the main market or the main road of Leh.

However, if you want to buy the prepaid sim from BSNL or Airtel, it is one of the toughest tasks for the Indian nationals. As the Indian Govt. considers the regions of Leh-Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir as sensitive areas, getting a SIM card is a daunting process for Indians.

Hence, it is recommended that you do not apply for the SIM cards until you are planning to stay for long in the city. On the other hand, the foreign nationals can easily get the prepaid connections and the process is pretty straightforward. They only have to submit photocopies of passport and two passports sized photographs while submitting the application for the SIM cards.

As the majority of the tourist destinations in Ladakh are located above 10,000 feet, it is important that you get acclimatized to the location before you continue your journey and follow some of the important safety tips and guidelines for Ladakh trip. So, here are some of the tips and guidelines for your safety for the trip.

 - Under any circumstances, do not consume any kind of anti-depressant drugs, alcohol, smoking and tobacco, because, being at the higher altitudes, you will face respiratory troubles.

- Do not over-exert and avoid any kind of physical activity, which can give unnecessary exertion to your body.

- Avoid sleeping at the higher altitudes. It is recommended that after spending a day at the higher altitudes, you move back down to the lower ones in the evening and spend overnight.

- Keep yourself hydrated throughout the trip. Consume lots of ORS water or other types of fluid, which can be soup, milk, tea, fruit juices etc. However, do not be over hydrated too, as it can cause you to vomit or can develop cerebral edema like weakness, confusion, hyponatremia or even coma.

- Have a diet rich in carbohydrates, because you need calories on higher altitudes and food rich in carbohydrates have around 70 percent of calories in them.

- Please carry a sufficient amount of AMS preventive medication, though it is recommended that you do consult with your doctor before doing so, as different medications may have different side effects.

Information about AMS
Wondering what AMS is? Well, it is the Acute Mountain Sickness which is the biggest challenge for the people traveling to Ladakh. When we reach out to the higher altitudes there is a scarcity of oxygen and our body faces severe levels of AMS.

While some of them are lightly affected by it others might even have severe side effects. Headache, vomiting, nausea, and more such symptoms are seen quite a lot of travelers. To avoid this one must make sure that they carry Diamox which helps to overcome this problem or one can avoid using the Manali to Leh highway where this is more prominent.

We went for Manali to srinagar Bike tour. It was the best bike trip of my entire life It all started with the person named Shubham from thrillophilia who helped me in selecting the best trip and processed with my booking, all thanks to him! Without him I wouldn’t have been able to experience the best trip of my life. On arrival there, we met our tour guide Tani and our Mechanic Shashi about whom I have read a lot at thrillophilia reviews. These 2 guys were so supportive during the entire tour that no matter what happened they were always there to look after us. They always made sure we are safe and we are following them and there is no overtaking taking place. Tani, the tour guide, one chilled out person he is! Make sure you get him as your tour guide and Shashi as the mechanic as these guys will always make sure that they are there for you no matter what. And in the end, it’s all the Main man behind everything, Jimmy Sir. Thanks a lot Sir for making me experience the best trip of my life! Without you and your team this wouldn’t have been possible. Thanks for helping us out in every way possible. The roads here are difficult terrain to ride on. You gotta be careful. You gotta carry your gum boots during water logging which is the most difficult to cross. But these guys made sure that we were all safe and had sound health till we reached home. Not even a single person was hurt. Our group was a mixture of all age groups, I’m fact we even got to meet 2 people From the Indian navy as well. One mad kickass experience! Unbelievable. Reaching the worlds highest Pass, Khardungla Top, was the highest achievement of my life till date which happened on this trip! And if at all you wish to go, don’t forget to ask Tani and Shashi as your tour guide and mechanic, and go only through Jimmy Sir as he has the best team! Thanks a lot to everyone out there for which I thought the best way would be to write at thrillophilia reviews.

Your Destination would be a dream until you come out and step ahead to it and experience. Leh-Manali Bike ride is one such vibe which will resonate for many years to come. Here the journey was more scintillating then achieving those milestones and Thrillophilia ensured we had great time by organising it perfectly to last mile would like to thank Tarun and Chitransh. Tani and Amit who were our Tour Leaders were just amazing with their hospitality to the care taken through out the ride. Ride at Khardungla Pass, Gata Loops, Zing Zing Bar, Barlachala were just amazing.

Such an amazing bike ride, challenging but with thrill till the end. Make sure that you are prepared to prevent the cold, the rough wind, the altitude sickness etc because even the symptoms of sickness will affect your trip. Khardung La Pass is quite a challenging one, also there are different shorter and longer passes throughout the journey. The service was also nice, not many complaints. The guides will know the place better because they are doing it for long. But still keep the track of the route before you start the trip. The guide was nice to us, keeping everything coordinated. The accommodation and food were also flawless to me.
We booked this Leh Ladakh complete tour from Delhi with the flights. And the whole trip was beautifully managed and it was a mesmerizing place being the Stupas, or rivers, hills or the passes. They were all enchanting and beautiful.
The Thrillophilia team has surpassed all of my expectations! I was initially apprehensive about the Parang La trek because of the altitude and the difficulty, but Thrillophilia made sure I had no issue at all! Everything was taken care of, and the guide was just brilliant. For any further treks, Thrillophilia is my go-to website and the one I’ll always recommend!
A great way to rent a bike and be secure about the condition and price for it. The bike of choice is also available and it is easy to book as well.
    Excellent
The Thrillophilia sales and support teams are absolutely brilliant. When I heard the Parangla trek pitch for the first time from them, I was not sure if the trek would pan out in the exact same way, but surprisingly, it did. The sales team was very articulate with the trek prerequisites, and outlines and the operator had answers to all the questions I asked!

Leh Ladakh's location had everything that you dreamed about. It had ice (lots and lots of ice), even when I was sleeping battling the cold at night I was could see those ice sheet right in front of my eyes. but the most exciting part was that we were never complaining even under these extreme conditions. the food offered was very tasty. everything was perfectly planned by the thrillophilia team. Awesome experience !!
