South Ridge Hike

Tree-Top Walk At MacRitchie Reservoir

The length of the entire walkway is around 250 metres and its height reaches 25 metres at its highest point. The trail weaves right in the thicket of dense forest cover and gives a bird’s eye view of animals and birds living in the forest canopy.

Bukit Timah Nature Reserve

The trails weave through forested areas where you can get a chance to spot long-tailed macaques and a wide variety of birds. Some of the paths lead to towering slopes which reach 163 metres above the ground level. The trails are easy to follow, for most of the part, thanks to steps, boardwalks and rope railings. Bukit Timah Nature Reserve is connected by an Eco Link to the nearby Central Catchment Nature Reserve.

Bukit Batok Hill

On the trail, you also pass through a small stream that stems from the top of the hill and runs through the park. Several types of fish, frogs and other small reptiles can be seen along the stream. The trail is an ideal way to spend your weekend in Singapore with family.

Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve

A few of the many residents of this ecological thoroughfare include mudskippers, crabs, shellfish, water snakes, birds, otters, herons, kingfishers and more. There are several trails of varying difficulty, that can be undertaken at the reserve. It also has a visitor centre where you can stop by and learn more about the biodiversity and ecology of the place.

Mount Serapong

Today, you can hike up to the top of the hill to find remnants of the Serapong Fort. The climb to the top is an easy one and as you go higher, the views get better. From the summit, you can enjoy panoramic views of the city and the harbour.

Dairy Farm Nature Park

The path also passes through remnants of a kampong or a village. Although the farm and the cows don’t exist anymore, you can still spot broken structures belonging to houses and ancient trees that are still standing. Amongst the many are Cempedak tree, Durian Tree and bracket fungus.

Pulau Ubin’s Puaka Hill

It is a narrow trail and you will walk through thickets of wild fern and secondary forest, marked by 4 different stations. You can stop by these stations to enjoy changing views of the quarry and the surrounding areas. On a clear day, you can see as far as skyscrapers of Singapore’s business district

Fort Canning Park

You can choose to discover the park at your own time and plan your own trail with the help of the many trail guides. You can also enjoy a 2.5 kilometre long augmented reality trail which checks 8 different points. The expansive lawns seeped in ancient heritage and lush greenery make for an excellent day out.

Keppel Hill Reservoir Trek

The path is made up of what was once a private pool and reservoir. You can still spot old water pipes, a diving board and broken concrete steps. It is not a difficult trek and can be easily undertaken with children of all ages, making it an ideal way to spend a day outdoors with your family.

Labrador Nature Reserve

The rich flora includes a wide range of coastal plants which are rare to spot anywhere else in Singapore. Not only is the reserve home to 70 species of birds, 11 kinds of butterflies and numerous trees, it is also home to a World War II fort. The park is also inter-connected to other parks via a 9-kilometre long stretch, making it easily accessible.

The Green Corridor

The railway tracks are lined by lush greenery and pristine forest cover and you get to walk through man-made canals, under bridges and through brick culverts overgrown by vegetation. The path for this trek is entirely flat and made up of gravel, making it a fun morning activity for people of all ages.

Upper Peirce Reservoir

The entrance to the park is located more than a kilometre away from the main road and a trail of another 4.5 kilometres can be covered through the Lower Pierce Reservoir to reach the Upper Peirce Reservoir. The long-distance makes it an endurance trail which can take a long time but is definitely worth the effort thanks to the spectacular views of the forest canopy and the reservoir.

Mount Faber Park

Trails inside the park are spread across the length and breadth and cover about 3 kilometres in roads and paths. One interesting route which includes 1-kilometre long path above the canopy starts from Henderson Road, then getting onto the Mount Faber Road and east towards the Mount Faber Park. Then, you head west and end your hike at Telok Blangah Hill Park.

Coney Island

You can walk on the boardwalk which takes you through the forest and mangroves and ends at the beach. You can also enjoy a promenade view of the Serangoon Reservoir if you decide to ride the 2.5-kilometre long park connector. The park also offers two-hour long guided walks with the help of knowledgeable volunteers.
