Port Blair is the capital of the Andaman & Nicobar islands, and is famous for its white sand beaches and blue ocean. The islands attract both Indian and foreign tourists alike, who stay here from a few days to a few months, basking in the sun and going for activities like snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming etc. Of all the activities, snorkeling is very popular here because of the clear waters of the Bay of Bengal and the marine life that’s around these islands in abundance. While tourists also like to go for glass bottom boat to see the marine life, snorkeling lets you swim right to these and have a very unique experience.
Snorkeling is conducted on the Elephant Beach on the Havelock Islands, where you will find corals in abundance. You will be equipped with a snorkel and a diving mask, which are essential to go snorkeling. The entire activity lasts for about thirty minutes. You will be briefed by the professional instructor before your dive, and you will learn about the safety measures necessary for the snorkeling activity. See beautiful corals and interesting marine life the way you have never seen before.
Some other activities you can do on the Andaman & Nicobar islands apart from snorkeling are scuba diving and exploring sunken ships off the coast, learning to dive, going for Cinque island excursion, take a fishing tour to Chidiyatapu, which is located about twenty-five kilometres from the city of Port Blair and you will need a boat ride to reach here. All the activities in the sea last from thirty minutes to a few hours, while a fishing trip to Chidiyatapu can take up to ten hours.
