There are two mechanics named The Traveller’s Shed and Bunty and Raju Mechanics in Kaza which could be spotted on the internet otherwise you will have to seek for small mechanics on your way. Adding to this, it is highly suggested to carry some basic equipment on your own as well as have the knowledge of using them.
You shall consider asking local tea shops and thadis for small mechanics in the villages. Otherwise, there are only two options called The Traveller’s Shed and Bunty and Raju Mechanics in Kaza. Moreover, you must carry some emergency tools and be knowledgeable of the know-how of the usage of them.
Mobile Connectivity

However, Tabo have BSNL service which ends as soon as you cross it which remains constant till Kaza. You must know that unlike Ladakh, you can use prepaid as well as postpaid services in Spiti Valley.Moreover, Batal and Mudh have satellite phones which provides you the service of satellite phones at Rs 2 per minute for STD as well as ISD calls. But make sure to use it only in emergencies and not for personal use.
Safety Tips & Guidelines

- Make sure to choose the right month as August will great you with landslides at certain locations along with heavy rains on the Himalayan routes.
- Do carry enough snacks in case of unavailability of food.
- You should always prepare for a month’s trip and have some buffer days in your hand as the hilly terrains would bring some unexpected challenges for you.
- Do fill your fuel tanks at given fuel stations as it might be difficult to get pumps as you approach higher.

About the Spiti Valley Tour:
The Spiti Valley Tour starts in Chandigarh from where we head towards Rampur. Before leaving for Rampur gather all the required medicines from the pharmacy we stop at. Overnight stop on day 1 is at Rampur. Meet your guide and know other travellers there in Rampur before going to sleep. Day 2 starts at 4:00 in the morning. This 9-10 hours of the journey will mesmerise you with the scenic beauty it holds. We will have our lunch at Nako Village, where you can walk over the frozen lake. On this day you will be sleeping in a local Spitian homestay. At the homestay, get a chance to talk to locals and have dinner.
On day 3 of the Spiti Valley Tour, we visit 100 years old Tabo Monastery. After visiting Dhnakar Monastery, used to be the Seat of the King in ancient times, we have our overnight stay in Kaza. In the morning of day 4, we go on a snow drive towards Langza, Hikkim and Komic. Click as many photos as you can. At night, learn about local life, festivals and traditions from the host family at Kaza. On day 5, we head to either Khiber/Chicham via Key depending on which area has seen the maximum amount of trails during the season.
